Use Client Testimonials to Market Your Business

I’m not talking about just using ‘I love your product’ quotes.

Ok, I’m cuttin’ the fluff today and just jumping to it. If you are going to have a business I believe you must build up your ‘Know, Like, Trust’ with your prospects and clients. If you want people to buy your product or service you must prove yourself trustworthy. One of my fav ways to do this is to showcase testimonials.

I don’t know what you think of when you hear testimonials but I’m not just talking about using a measly little quote like ‘OMG, I love your [insert product or service]’. I’m talking about showcasing some results you see after your clients use your product or service.

Using these testimonials as marketing content can create trust, show credibility and help showcase a product or service that you offer.

I love a good example so I have one for you today. One of the things I like to do in my free time [whatever the hell that means] is event planning for non-profits, primarily focusing on fundraising.

Here is a poor example of a testimonial I could use for marketing content:
“Steph is so great to work with and very organized.”

Here is a results-driven testimonial I would use for marketing content:
“Steph is great to work with and we’ve seen a 65% increase in funds raised since hiring her company.”

Do you see the difference? Sure, I could use the first one but if you were the Executive Director of the Non-Profit wouldn’t you care more about the results?

Ok, now I want to give you some actionable ways you can use these testimonials. There are PLENTY more but I don’t want to overwhelm you if this is your first go around with creating content.

  • Select a high quality photo of your customer [with permission of course] and post that photo along with the testimonial on your social media feed.
  • Grab your phone and create a video. You can talk about the results you have been able to give your customer. You don’t even have to say your customers name if you don’t feel comfortable doing that.
  • Add the testimonial text to your client proposals or bids if that is relevant.

Alright, I’m curious. Have you used testimonials before in your marketing? Are you showcasing the RESULTS you give your customers? As always, I wanna help. If you have a question let me know. Leave a comment or send me an email!
